Commemorating Indonesia’s National Waste Awareness
Day 2022 (HPSN 2022), SMP Negeri 2 Mandiraja held an event, Giat Sabtu Bersih. The
event was conducted on 12th February 2022. The main purpose of Giat Sabtu
Bersih is to raise the students' awareness of loving and caring for the
environment. There are several activities of Giat Sabtu Bersih, namely:
cleaning the classrooms, the school gardens, the school surroundings, and
painting racks and flower pots.

There are 24 classrooms in SMP Negeri 2 Mandiraja. The
students of each classroom cleaned the windows, the ceilings, the floor, and
decorated their classes. On weekdays, the students also clean their class
regularly. Spotless and cozy classrooms make the students more focused on
learning.

As Adiwiyata School, SMP Negeri 2 Mandiraja has many school gardens and gazebos. Each classroom is equipped with beautiful gardens in front of their class. Many kinds of flowers and trees are planted in the garden. The students cleaned the weeds, fertilized and watered the plants. On the other, the representative of each class cleaned those school facilities together with the teachers and janitors.
The students were enthusiastic about painting
racks and decorating flower pots. They decorated the racks and the pots with
colorful paint and beautiful drawing. The drawing mostly is about nature to
promote Indonesia's National Waste Awareness Day. The theme of this year’s
Indonesia’s National Waste Awareness Day is Manage Your Waste to Reduce Your
Emissions.

It is hoped that the event of Giat Sabtu Bersih
can educate and influence the students' awareness to keep their environment
clean, healthy, and green. A better learning environment gives a better
learning experience for students.
